The Road to Abundance

Been mulling over the scripture in John 10:10b "...I've come that you might have life and have it abundantly." Is this as good as it seems to be? In my own life and it seems in the lives of many Christian friends we too often seem to settle for much less than whatever abundance means. Are we missing something? Now, my intent is not to rag on my sisters and brothers. If the above is true(and it is) I want it, don't you? So what does "abundantly" mean? If you look it up in Strong's you'll find these meanings: rich, full, meaningful, advantage, above the ordinary, more than enough. Sound's pretty good. If you read all of Jn. 10:10 you'll find a problem....." the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy."
Evil never what's the righteous to prosper, to live in the above definitions of abundance. SO MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT IS NECESSARY TO LIVE IN GOD'S ABUNDANCE? I would very much welcome you thoughts on this.....
On the road to abundance,
Blaine

  1. I think God delights in giving us good gifts. We know it is not God's desire for bad things for us because of the example of the Garden. Everything He made was good.

  2. I believe it's important that we remember that the "abundance" God promises us, is not (almost always) what WE believe the definition of "abundance" is. When we put our expectations of happiness and "abundance" in the material things of this world, or in another human being, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment - for sure! When I started realizing and reminding myself that "my happiness is up to me", I experienced a lot less disappointment and sorrow. Sure, I still have those moments of disappointment, but they are a lot less and now, I realize the tools I have to process through it and move forward! Even in the midst of unemployment, my husband's serious health issues and other "daily" trials, I realize that I DO have God's "abundance" - just by having yet another day to worship Him and look for my purpose in that day!!

  3. Hi, Blaine! I've found that, most of the time, any of God's principles work on the "cast your bread upon the waters and it will begin to come back to you after many days." To many times we(I) throw a little bread out and get discouraged when I don't see immediate results. Joy and I decided to start tithing on all our income. The first thing that happened was we got a bill for an unsurmountable amount! As we continue to be faithful to what we decided to do, God's abundance must begin to come back to us. In Malachi He said to prove him in this!
